Just how safe is Thailand in 2024?
Most of Thailand is quite safe. But, I would not include high volume tourist areas like central Pattaya, or any red-light district.
Let me give you an example of what you can do without worrying too much.
- Leave your laptop in the cafe or wo-working space and you get up to go to the bathroom.
- Rent a motorbike and forgot to take the keys out of the ignition.
- Forget to lock the door to your house or condo.
- Lose your wallet.
- Walk on the streets at 2am in the morning.
However, Thailand does have a lot of scams, so there are a few rules to follow:
- Reject anyone who approaches you first
- Don't click on links in text messages.
- If you are online dating, chose the places to go yourself - never follow the suggestions from the person you're out with.
And of course, for the love of Buddha, don't pick fights or arguments with Thai people.
