You got an urgent line call from your lady in Thailand.
"ฉันท้องอยู่ - I am pregnant!"
Bad boy! 👶🏻
Now a little ลูกครึ่ง (mixed child) is on the way. How do you take advantage of this blessing in disguise after you get over the shock?
There are some great options for you to support your child while living in Thailand!
Which Visa do you need?
You are eligible for a "Non O" visa to help support your child while you live in Thailand. Initially its available for 90 days, then extended to a year and then renewed each year until the child is 20 years old. You need to have a minimum monthly income of 40,000 THB ($1,200 USD) or 400,000 THB in a bank account. You can open a bank account, rent a home and live in Thailand with or close to your child.
If you are not living permanently in Thailand, you can still apply for this visa which lasts for 3 months at a time so you can enjoy extended visits.
Work Permit
A little known fact is with this special visa, you can apply for a Thai Work Permit. Which allows you to work for a company in Thailand, or even start your own business here.
Permanent Residency / Citizenship
With the work permit and a minimum income of 80,000 THB per month for 3 consecutive years, you can then apply for Thai permanent residency, and eventually Thai Citizenship. (You cannot get Thai citizenship just on the basis of the child alone).
