Hi,
Many of us want to move and live in Thailand forever. How can you do this? Can you even get a Thai passport?
Well... yes. Maybe.
There are basically 2 paths.
You're rich and don't need to work
If you are wealthy, then its easy. Just buy the Thailand Privilege Visa (Thai Elite) for 20 years with 5 Million THB (about $147,000 USD). You can also apply for the LTR Visa which allows you to stay for 10 years at a time without giving your money to the Thai government.
You are not rich and don't want to work
If you're not wealthy and just a brokie, your options are some kind of visa that has to be renewed every year. The DTV Visa, The Retirement visa and Marriage Visa allows you to do that.
You want permanent residency/citizenship and are willing to work
Only a Thai work permit can get you that. You have to work for at least 3 consecutive years. To get a work permit you have to be married to a Thai Citizen, get a job in Thailand or start a business in Thailand with a Business Visa. After 3 years you can apply for permanent residency and a few more years you can apply for Thai Citizenship.
Many people think this is impossible.
