Yes, you can apply for a DTV visa while currently in Thailand on a different visa, but you must leave Thailand and submit the application at a Thai consulate or embassy in your home country.

The Specifics

• You need at least 500,000 THB (or equivalent) in your personal bank account for a minimum of 3 consecutive months before applying for a DTV. This balance must stay above 500,000 THB the entire time.
• Application for DTV must be done outside Thailand in a country with a Thai consulate or embassy. For example, if you are from Korea, you apply at the relevant Thai embassy while residing in your home country during processing.
• If you meet the financial requirement, you qualify for a DTV in categories such as Remote Worker (5 years, multiple entries) or Soft Power (for example, a 1-year cooking class).
• Retirement Visa (Non-O) can also be applied for from your home country. It requires either 800,000 THB in your bank account or a monthly retirement income of at least 65,000 THB for the last 12 months.
• Tourist Visa can be issued for 60 days plus a 30-day extension. After it expires, you can re-enter with a Visa Exemption for another 60 days plus 30-day extension.
• Visa extensions require a Thailand stamp in your passport, TM30, and your passport. These can be booked online.
• Consulates may have specific policies; some do not accept certain DTV applications, such as freelance actors under the foreign talent category.
• It is generally not possible to switch from a DTV to another visa category inside Thailand.
