What are the financial requirements for a Non-Immigrant O Retirement Visa?
You need to show either 800,000 Baht in a bank account that has been held for at least 3 months before applying, or proof of 65,000 Baht monthly pension income for the last 12 months.
The Specifics
- For the initial Non-O Retirement Visa, the 800,000 Baht must sit in a savings or checking account for at least 3 months before you apply. This can be in any bank, including outside Thailand.
- Alternatively, you can show a monthly pension income of 65,000 Baht (or equivalent) documented over the last 12 months.
- Once you enter Thailand on the Non-O Retirement Visa, you must open a Thai bank account and deposit the 800,000 Baht into it. A long-term visa is required to open a Thai bank account.
- For the 1-year extension, the 800,000 Baht must remain in a Thai bank account for at least 2 months before applying.
- The Non-O Retirement Visa is applied for outside Thailand, for example at an embassy in your home country, Laos or Vietnam.
