RENT - Absurdly cheaper. From $300 - $600 can get you a great condo in Chiang Mai or Bangkok. You just can't get that a home. And typically rents don't rise every year in Thailand. Just look to pay 3 months to move in.

TRANSPORTATION - About 80% less than other major international cities. A ride from the airport in Bangkok is $17. A ride from JFK to Manhattan starts at 5x that price.

SHOPPING - We are close to some of the major manufacturing zones in Thailand, China, and Vietnam, so shopping is amazing. And of course Thailand malls are the best in the world.

FOOD - This is the one that will destroy you. Yes you can get a local meal for $2. But if you pile on imported foods every week, you will be paying more than rent! The idea is to have 80% local foods and 20% imported foods for a nice mix.
